LFP Learnership Program

1. What is the LFP Learnership Program?

The LFP learnership program is a work-based qualification. The qualifications that the learners will receive are NQF level 3 and Level 4 qualifications. Itec Tiyende has targeted both employees as well as unemployed disabled individuals who will undertake these qualifications.

2. What inspired Itec Tiyende to create such a program?

A specific skills needs analysis was undertaken by Itec Tiyende in addition to the Skills Development requirements under BBBEE legislation. The program is designed to upskill and give experience to the learners. Itec Tiyende has been dedicated to transformation and has identified skills as a key area for improvement. As a result, Itec Tiyende has embarked on a process whereby it aims to upskill individuals with the intent of allowing them to either progress in their current roles or find permanent employment.

3. What was the criteria used to choose the two recipients?

During the skills audit undertaken, the employees identified were done so using the following criteria:

  1. Job title and management level;
  2. Existing qualifications;
  3. Key areas imperative to growth within their existing roles;
  4. Targets defined in terms of the Employment Equity Act; and
  5. BBBEE imperatives in relation to targets in accordance with EAP statistics.

4. How long is the learnership program for?

Each learnership is for a period of 12 months.  

5. How will it benefit the selected individuals?

The program is designed to upskill black individuals who are both employed and/or unemployed so as to allow them to either perform their current role more effectively, position them to be promoted/employed within Itec Tiyende or to give the individuals skills and workplace experience which is intended to hopefully allow them to be integrated more effectively into the workplace with skills which are easily adaptable to different environments and needs.

7. Is it going to be an ongoing program?

Yes, the Learnership program will be an annual program to be undertaken by Itec Tiyende to benefit its current staff as well as unemployed black and often disabled individuals.
